ICAS Vocational Rehabilitation assists Alaska Native and American Indian tribal members with disabilities who are interested in getting back to work or keep their job.

What do we Do:

If a disability is keeping you from getting a job or maintaining a job, we may be able to help you find employment, get training, or help you be more active in subsistence activities.

Who Should Apply:

Any North Slope Resident who has a physical or mental disability which makes it difficult for the person to work or find work. This includes learning disabilities, such as math or English. Applicant must have proof of Alaska Native or American Indian descent. Referral services are available to non-native applicants. We assist people who: who are in recovery from Alcohol and Drug dependency, people who have been diagnosed with a Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Orthopedic problems, Amputation, Head injuries (including strokes), Severe Diabetes, Seizure Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, and Other Disabilities interfering with your employment or ability to become employed.

Once you have been found Eligible:

After completing your application, your employment counselor will request documentation in order to determine your eligibility for services. When you have been determined eligible, your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor will help you explore different possibilities and develop a vocational goal. A plan will then be developed which includes a number of steps geared towards reaching that goal.
